Pay a Ticket

Tickets that can be paid without going to court are listed on our Fine Schedule for Municipal Offenses. You will pay the amount on the schedule plus add $35.00 to the amount shown on the fine schedule. If the Fine Schedule has a star on the side, you will not pay the extra $35.00. You will not have to go to court to pay the fines on the Fine Schedule but you will have to call (417) 237-7001 or go to City Hall at 326 Grant Street to pay the fine before your court date. If you don't find your type of ticket on the Fine Schedule you will have to appear in Municipal Court.

If payment is made in person, payment must be made by cashiers check, money order, or cash in exact change. (Payment must be received before your court date, or a warrant may be issued.) We do not accept personal or business checks.

If you prefer to pay by phone with a credit card, please call City Hall at 417-237-7001. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. There is a small convenience fee added if you choose to pay by card.

You may contact the Municipal Court Administrator Jessica Baugh, at 417-237-7001, Monday through Friday from 8 am- 5 pm.

Trials

When you come to court you will either plead guilty or not guilty. If you plead not guilty your case will be set for trial and you will be given a new court date. Trials start at 2 pm.

Carthage Municipal Division is held at Memorial Hall, 407 S Garrison at 9 am on the following dates in 2024:

  • March 14th & 28th

  • April 11th & 25th

  • May 9th & 16th

  • June 6th & 27th

  • July 11th & 25th

  • August 15th & 29th

  • September 12th & 26th

  • October 3rd & 24th

  • November 7th & 21st

  • December 5th & 19th

Individuals who need to discuss payment schedules can appear before Judge Workman at 2 pm on the listed dates.
