The City of Carthage, Missouri is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Tourism Director. Carthage is located along Route 66 in Southwest Missouri with a population of nearly 15,000 and is rich in history, tradition, and cultural diversity.
The Tourism Director works under the general direction of the City Administrator and the Tourism Board and is responsible for the management and operating functions of the Tourism Department for the promotion and marketing of the City of Carthage as a tourism destination, and its growth of the local tourism industry. Effective planning, development, and implementation of marketing strategies, development strategies, creative initiatives, management of volunteer personnel, funding, and budgetary management are critical for this position.
Qualified candidates must be knowledgeable in the principles and practices of tourism, event marketing strategies, municipal budget preparation, and management skills to analyze programs, policies, and operational needs. A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field and 3-5 years of experience in marketing, tourism, or a related field are preferred.
The starting salary the Tourism Director is $65,187.20.
