How do I set up new trash service?: Contact Carthage Water and Electric at 417-237-7300 to set up new trash service or if you have any questions regarding billing. All trash services are billed through Carthage Water and Electric.

1. How do I order an additional trash polycart?: Contact Republic Services at (417) 358-6999 or 1-800-627-1717 to request an additional trash polycart. They will need your address and phone number. There is an additional charge that will be billed by CWEP. Delivery of an additional poly cart usually takes about a week.

2. How can I get reimbursed for a portion of the cost of having my sidewalk replaced?: Contact our office and fill out a Sidewalk Participation Request form. We will visit your property and obtain measurements. Once eligibility is determined, you will then receive a letter in the mail letting you know how much your reimbursement amount would be. The complete sidewalk from property line to property line must be replaced in order to qualify, and there is a maximum reimbursement amount per property per year. There is a yearly budget limit for this program, and all reimbursements are subject to funds availability at the time of project completion. Only the sidewalk that runs parallel to the roadway at the street edge of a property is eligible for reimbursement.

3. How do I get a Certificate of Occupancy?: Contact our office and speak with a Building Inspector to discuss your project and to schedule an inspection when applicable.

4. How do I replace a broken poly cart?: Contact Republic Services at (417) 358-6999 or 1-800-627-1717 if you have a broken or lost poly cart. They will need your address, phone number and what is wrong with the poly cart. Delivery of a replacement poly cart usually takes about a week. At time of delivery they will take the broken poly cart.

6. I have an old garage/outbuilding on my property. What do I need to do in order to tear it down?: If there are no utilities ran to the garage/outbuilding (electric, water, gas, etc) then it can be demolished without a permit. If there are any kind of utilities ran to it, contact our office for a pre-demolition application. The application has contact information for the various utilities and a place for each of them to sign off once disconnects are completed. Once the form is complete, you or your contractor may return it to our office and obtain a demolition permit.

7. If I place an old couch, chair, mattress (bulky item) at the street curb will the trash company pick it up?: Before placing an item at the curb you will need to call and set up a bulky item pickup with Republic Trash Services (800-627-1717). Republic usually schedules pickups for Monday, please call by Friday for the following Monday pickup.

8. My neighbor's electricity was disconnected and they are still living there. What can be done?: Contact our office at 417-237-7010. All residences inside the city must have electricity, water, and sewer service to be considered inhabitable.

9. What Building Code / Electrical Code is currently being enforced in the City of Carthage?: Currently the City of Carthage enforces ICC 2018 Codes and the 2017 National Electrical Code. If you have any questions, please contact our office and speak with a Building Inspector.

10. When does the height of the grass and or weeds in my yard become a violation?: Grass or weeds above 8 inches are subject to violation.

11. Who do I call about potholes in the road?: Contact our office at 417-237-7010 and report the location.

12. Who do I call about reporting a damaged, missing or leaning Street sign?: Contact our office at 417-237-7010 and report the sign type and the location.
